1, 2, 3 - Fashion For Free! Newcastle Fashion Week Pop-Up Event

Newcastle Fashion Week Project Runway

The crew from Newcastle Fashion Week will be bringing style to the Show with their three-part ‘pop up’ event this week, which offers a chance for local talent to shine, and local fashionistas to get the heads up on what’s hot in Newcastle this season.

The first event will see young design students showcase their resourcefulness, innovation & creativity in a Project Runway style challenge to create wearable designs in just 30 minutes.

There will also be a runway show to give spectators a peek at new collections from local designers looking to make a name for themselves in fashion, and a style session during which local boutiques will outline the key trends for the Winter months.

These events are free to attend (if you’ve paid your $10.00 to get into the Newcastle Show at Newcastle Entertainment Centre) and provide a great preview to Newcastle Fashion Week later in the year. In 2010, Newcastle Fashion Week showcased emerging fashion designers from across the country and raised $10,000 for cancer research. For more info, check out the Newcastle Show website.

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Most recently, Helen worked as a Digital Projects Assistant at Sticky Advertising and was Editor of Urban Insider. She has recently landed a pretty sweet gig working in the music industry in Sydney.
