Finding Autumn / Winter 2011 Key Fashion Trends in Newcastle

Newcastle Autumn/Winter Fashion

The leaves are falling, and the clothes on the shelves are taking on a darker shade! We aren’t quite ready to let go of our precious warm weather, but there’s something exciting about a change in season - new fashion collections!

It’s time to start preparing your wardrobe with some new season trend must-haves, and ensure you’re looking your fabulous best this autumn / winter.

We have had our keen fashion eye following overseas winter trends, particularly in Paris (via our Stylehunter fashion correspondent Pierre!), and have created a list of our favourite autumn / winter trends. PLUS, we have discovered a super cute independent boutique, Missy Mou (love the name too), here in Newcastle, stocking many key pieces to help you shop these trends.

Here’s our pick of Autumn / winter 2011 trends:

If you follow one trend this winter make it Chunky Knits. Grab yourself a jumper, long cardigan or big scarf, or all of the above! Think warm and cozy, think on trend, think winter style! I love this Stripe poncho by Lilya $149. Team it with leggings or tights and some ankle boots for a perfect winter look.

Leather continues to make an appearance in the cooler months and this season expect to see more than ever, with leather pants, shorts, skirts and dresses all popping up, not just the leather jacket. Check out the Wild Way leather skirt by Faddoul, $199 to add a touch of leather to your winter look.

Shearling has been massive overseas and is sure to make a statement here this season. Grab your own piece of this winter warmer trend with the Betty Shearling jacket Khaki by May $139.

Capes offer a new shape in coats, and look great buttoned up or undone for a more casual look” says Stacey from Missy Mou. The Shilla Camel Cape $189 is perfect, giving you two trends in one with Camel being a popular colour of the season.

Animal Prints are a great way to add some colour in an otherwise black and grey winter colour spectrum, try the Aurora dress in animal by May $189.

Remember, don’t wear too many trends together. Find one key piece from each trend and work it in with some plain / basics from your existing wardrobe to create a winning look.

All items available from Missy Mou, why not have a shop and then stop off a few doors down at Sprocket cafe for some amazing coffee!
