Everyone Loves a Good Mix Tape: Heart Attack & Vine

“The times you lived through, the people you shared those times with — nothing brings it all to life like an old mix tape. It does a better job of storing up memories than actual brain tissue can do. Every mix tape tells a story.”
— Rob Sheffield (Love Is a Mix Tape)

Ok, so we might have moved away from cassette tapes and on to shuffled playlists but there’s still nothing sweeter than a great compilation, a great musical story. The Mix Tape asks a local band for a mixed bag of 5 tracks, including one from another local act. This week we’re delving into what tunes tickle the fancy of local rockers HeartAttack & Vine.

If you’re after a blistering performance channelling 70s rock gods, then you have to get along a HeartAttack show! The boys recently supported Kevin Borich & The Party Boyz and have also played with the likes of Grant Walmsley & the Agents of Peace and Nat Col & The Kings. They’ve just finished some recording and the tracks are available on Myspace and free to download on Facebook.

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Most recently, Helen worked as a Digital Projects Assistant at Sticky Advertising and was Editor of Urban Insider. She has recently landed a pretty sweet gig working in the music industry in Sydney.
