Photographing Nelson St, Wallsend

Nelson St Wallsend

As someone who spends most of their time in the eastern suburbs of Newcastle, I decided to check out a different area this week, and had a walk along the main street of Wallsend. In a similar style to Hunter Street, there were plenty of empty shop spaces - but there was some restoration to be seen, and even a little Christmas spirit. As the weeks move on, it becomes harder to find a unique viewpoint, but there are still gems to be found. I loved the arrangement of the three mailboxes, and the classic Terminus Hotel, that seemed to watch over the rest of the street.

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
