Photographing Newcastle East

Map of Newcastle East

The tightly packed streets of Newcastle East are populated with the classic terrace houses that are the epitome of Newcastle architecture. Nestled inbetween the CBD, the beaches and the harbour, it is easily one of the city’s most desirable suburbs. Elsewhere in the city there were stormy skies, but once I reached town the skies had cleared to beautiful sunshine. It seems that even mother nature knows better than to mess with the surfing schedule of a Novocastrian! There was plenty of reconstruction and renovation going on - it will be interesting to see if the suburb holds its aged charm as time moves on.

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
