Photographing The Hill

The Hill - Newcastle The Grid

Hi Urban Insiders, this week marks the first set of The Grid photos with myself (Ben) as your new photographer! I’ll be trying my best to maintain the standard set by Doug before me in building a collection of unique & insightful photos of the Newcastle & Hunter region.

These photos cover a few blocks around The Hill, concluding at its highest point, The Obelisk. It’s a great spot to get a 360 degree view of our city. The suburb lives up to its name - walking down is easy enough, getting back up not so much!

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Ben is a 21 year old photographer who loves capturing the emotion of a moment. He focuses on wedding & portrait photography, but doesn't mind trying his hand at other genres from time to time either. Ben spends most of his spare time reading about photography, practicing new photography techniques and spending all his money on new photography toys. Growing up in Gloucester & moving after completing school, he is now studying a Bachelor of Business at the University of Newcastle. A self-confessed geek, you can follow his stream of consciousness on Twitter or see the latest work on his blog.

Most unusual photography - great to have photos to remind everyone of the wonderful places and Ben has captured some different places and different aspects…. thoroughly enjoyed your approach to the area.

A great start to your Grid collection Ben. Look forward to seeing more.

Well done Ben - good to see you following one of your passions. You’ve obviously got some skill with a camera in your hand.
Maybe you’ll rediscover a similar passion for the piano. I hope so! Because I really enjoyed your playing. Cheers
