Thanks in part to the generosity of a few Novocastrians, the popular Red Lantern Night Market is back again in 2011, but for one night only!

Originally looking as though the annual event would be cancelled, due to major sponsor GPT Group pulling out of the Newcastle Mall development, organisers have rallied locals to get behind the event and have managed to secure enough funding for it to take place on Saturday 26 November.

Offering the chance to experience the Hunter Street Mall by moonlight, the Market will light up the Mall and its surrounding streets and laneways between 4-10pm.

It’s set to be a buzzing evening with market stalls from local emerging artists and designers, lots of food and plenty of fun for those young and old. Come along to fill your Christmas stockings with the best local hand-made arts, crafts, jewellery, toys, homewares and fashion.

There will be lots of new talented stallholders, many of them emerging artists from local TAFE and Newcastle University.

At present, the organisers have raised over $2,000. But with their original goal to raise $3,500, there is still the chance for locals to get involved in the Market by doing more than just turning up on the night. Best of all, you can win some amazing prizes by donating!

Donations can be made for as little as $50, all the way up to $1,000 with incentives offered. Lanterns, hand screen-printed limited edition Red Lantern Night Market bags & tea towels as well as the opportunity to appear on all their advertising material. So come on Newcastle, lets get behind this great event!

For more details about the Market, you can visit their website or head straight to their Pozible page to find out more about donating…
