In a move sure to provoke excitement among creatives - Renew Newcastle has announced an extraordinary opportunity for quality unique art craft and design projects to take place in Newcastle’s most iconic retail location.

Renew Newcastle is now taking applications for short-term retail or gallery projects by artists and creatives to take place in the Ground Floor of the iconic David Jones building on Hunter St Mall, Newcastle.

The unique project is in partnership with property owners The GPT Group & Landcom, as well further support being provided by Hunter Development Corporation, Newcastle City Council, NewCert & APP Group.

Although the ex-David Jones site is awaiting a longer-term tenant, or possible redevelopment, Renew Newcastle will be trialing this temporary activation of the site from November 2012 to January 2013.

The developers have created 8 smaller specialty tenancies in the Ground Floor, with Hunter St Mall and Perkins St access, and of course those large distinct windows are begging to be filled.

This opportunity is open to artists, crafters, makers and designers who will use a space to sell the things that they make, and who can dedicate themselves to their project for a guaranteed 3 months.

Renew Newcastle aim to showcase some of Newcastle’s best creative offerings in a festive season Emporium, creating a must-see retail experience for Novocastrians and visitors.

See the Renew Newcastle Project Applications page for details on how to apply.

Deadline for applications is Monday, October 29th.
