Friday, 29 April

If you’re a fan of Phoenix and The Klaxons, make sure you get into Melbourne band Strange Talk. Check out their show at CBD Hotel at 8pm tonight to see why the Triple J crew are frothing over these guys. Get tickets.

After dinner and some music? Iconic Australian singer-songwriter Diesel will be playing at Lizottes tonight and continuing Saturday night. Get tickets.

Saturday 30 April

Jon English and The Rock Show are shaking things up at the Civic Theatre. The Rock Show will take you through the music of the 60′s and 70′s- right from The Beatles to Led Zepplin. Be quick- shows sold out at the Central Coast and Cessnock last year. Make sure you catch their only show in Newcastle. Get tickets.

Are you a rev head with petrol flowing through your veins? Get to Fuelarama for a dose of hotrods, an off-shore boat race and a face off between Australian and USA muscle cars. More info.

Indie fans, don’t fret! Koko, Shivering Indies and Cavalcade are playing at CBD Hotel tonight.

The Adventure Spirit and Amy Vee are playing at The Lass O’Gowrie Hotel tonight.

Tuesday 3 May

If silky smooth jazz and blues is what you’re craving, groove to Half Nelson at The Great Northern. The show starts at 7pm and entry is free.

Wednesday 4 May

Star Wars loving university students unite for May the Fourth! Goonion are holding a sleep-over at Bar on the Hill. Get cosy with your pals for a complete Star Wars movie marathon. Dinner and breakfast is provided and dressing up as Skywalker and crew is encouraged. Also, it’s only $10.

Hugh Cornwell of Stranglers fame is ripping up the Cambridge Hotel. He’ll be playing two sets: the first will be his solo pieces and Stranglers hits, and the second will be the first complete performance of The Stranglers album Rattus Norvegicus IV in Australia. Get tickets.

Brooke is a Business and Law student (majoring in marketing) at the University of Newcastle. She enjoys Leonardo Di Caprio movies, pretty dresses and cake. Her cooking skills haven't developed past eggs on toast and she consistently loses games of Mario Kart.
