Searching for things to do in Newcastle this week? We’ve done all the hard work for you.

Friday 1st of April

At 7pm the Derelicte Ball kicks off at Bar on the Hill. Clean out your wardrobe or head to a local op-shop to reincarnate a stylin’ new outfit from recycled clothes and materials. Entry is free for students and $10 for non-students.

There’s a Rockabilly Riot going down at 8pm at CBD Hotel with the Pat Cappocci band and the First Fleet Vandals. Grab your creeper shoes and quiff that do! Entry is free.

Head to The Depot on Beaumont for delicious cocktails and tapas Live acoustic sessions with Jennifer Young and Adam Miller.

Saturday 2nd of April

Just want to have fun, time after time? Cyndi Lauper is playing at Newcastle Entertainment Centre. More info.

Help raise funds for recent disasters and enjoy some crackin’ tunes at Newcastle Panthers. X-Factor finalists Luke and Joel will be holding a disaster relief concert. More info.

If you’re up for clue hunting, fast-paced fun, make sure you enter Newcastle’s Amazing Race. Get a team of 4 together to win some fabulous prizes and raise money for Lifeline Hunter & Newcastle, and the Vera Deacon Regional History Fund. The fun starts at 12pm and entry is $45 per team. Sunday 3rd of April

Lace up your running shoes - the annual Herald Hill to Harbour Challenge is on today. If running around Newcastle isn’t your thing, there are also rides, food and live music. More info.

Wednesday 6th of April

Experience some local and international music acts tonight. At the Cambridge Hotel, Massachusetts band Miles Away are playing a free show at 7pm. Check out local acts The Hatty Fatners, Bones Jones and the Skeletones and Beatrice Rose at the Lass O’Gowrie Hotel.

Thursday 7th of April

Choose between a night of comedy or jazz. Austen Tayshus is tickling funny bones from 8pm at the Lass O’Gowrie Hotel tonight. At The Great Northern, it’s Jazz Factory time.

Friday 8th of April

Scratch up the dance floor with Cassian at King Street Hotel. It’s UNO night for students, so make sure you bring a student card for $5 entry and $4spirits.

Brooke is a Business and Law student (majoring in marketing) at the University of Newcastle. She enjoys Leonardo Di Caprio movies, pretty dresses and cake. Her cooking skills haven't developed past eggs on toast and she consistently loses games of Mario Kart.
