Hunter Valley Wine Tastings at Hungerford Hill or Poole's Rock

Hungerford Hill, 2450 Broke Road Pokolbin Visit Hunter Valley Wine Tastings at Hungerford Hill or Poole's Rock (02) 4990 0715

Newcastle is lucky enough to be situated close to both amazing beaches and pristine vineyards. Most of the vineyards offer free wine tastings and it can be a great day roaming (with a designated driver, of course) from one to the next. Two of my favourites are Hungerford Hill and Poole's Rock.

There are many art galleries around Newcastle which have free entry and could be good for a winter-day walk through and if you’re looking for a bit of guidance, every Saturday and Sunday at 11am the Newcastle Region Art Gallery runs a free guided tour of current exhibitions.

Thanks Jen!

We took our daughter and her two English cousins to the Newcastle Museum yesterday - free and absolutely brilliant. Not sure who had the best time, the kids or the parents. Interactive and just absolutely awesome, and a beautiful location on the foreshore too.

If you have kids take them to Art Cart. Free every Saturday and Sunday at the gallery. It’s a wonderful art program for kids and you can have a stroll around the gallery while you are there!!

The museum is all free, free, free and my 4 year old loves the ‘play area’ which is safe and fun to play on. As well as looking at all the gizmo’s and things in the actual museum:)

Glenrock State Conservation area has lovely waterfalls and walking paths if you are feeling adventurous and you can always make it down to Dudley Beach and have a swim:)

Or…you could just look at all the wonderful antique, nick-nack, retro stores and day dream. It doesn’t hurt to window-shop and you can always pick up a coffee (I know…not free but a low-cost indulgence) at one of the yummy cafe’s along the way:)

I love Newcastle. I moved her from Brisbane three years ago and we love it!!:)

You forgot the amazing beaches, the fishing, walks & the numerous riding tracks / trails too…

Gotta go check out the Newcastle Museum as well! So well done and it’s FREE! So proud of them on putting up such a great and fun museum!
