Sushi Castle

15 Honeysuckle Dr, Newcastle NSW 2300 Eat-in/Takeaway

Having opened for business quite recently, this Japanese-Korean restaurant has been quick to establish itself as some of the most delicious sushi in Newcastle. Sushi Castle offer both beautifully and minimally decorated eat-in delights and quick, efficient takeaway sushi services, as well as a range of rich, exotic soups and fresh and delicate noodle dishes. Located on the picturesque Lee Wharf, the perfect date this Spring is picking up some delicious fried vegetable 10-piece roll and a quick miso and taking a seat on the harbour to greedily munch it all down. Convenient for seconds, and trust me - you’ll want them.

Sushi Bay

Pearson Street, Charlestown NSW 2290 Eat-in

Sushi trains are an entertaining and exciting dining experience, kind of like a cafeteria meets a bar meets a buffet. Upon entering Sushi Bay at Charlestown, you are immediately greeted boisterously and merrily with the phrase “irasshaimase!” or “how can we please you?” by the waitstaff and chefs – who cook in an open kitchen situated in the middle of the room. You take a seat at the sushi bar which wraps around the cooking area, with a conveyer belt constantly rotating a range of the most delectable, piping hot and simple delicacies sushi has to offer – and start choosing! All dishes are colour-coded to indicate price, so it’s easy to get out of there with a full stomach and change from $20.

Nagisa

1 Honeysuckle Dr, Newcastle NSW 2300 Eat-in/Takeaway

Operating since October 2004, Nagisa (Japanese for 'Ebbing of the Tide') is Newcastle’s premier high-dining Japanese experience. Although an expensive night, Nagisa offers delicacies unrivaled in the Newcastle area, meticulously prepared and flawlessly presented. Nagisa also boasts one of the only Teppanyaki bars in Newcastle, which is a fantastic and exciting night out for a birthday or work party. A gorgeous selection is available eat-in or takeaway at lunchtime at a seemingly similar price to dinner, but with options like medium rare tataki pieces served on sushi rice topped with shallots and radish, your tastebuds will surely thank you – even if your wallet doesn’t!

Hi - thanks for including Sushi Koo in this great sushi review. Just wanted to let you know that it is actually not a chain store, but an independent Newcastle business set up by chef Chris Kime. We just happen to have 3 stores - in the mall, Marketown and the Junction Fair.
Cheers,
Sarah
