If you’re looking for a few arty events to see, or even participate in yourself, Urban Insider has stumbled upon a few things that just might take your fancy!

PODspace Gallery Grand Opening

The team at PODspace on Hunter Street, Newcastle are inviting you to come along and help them celebrate the opening of their new gallery space. Opening this Thursday, 16 November, local artists Peter Speight, Simone Darcy, Michael Randall, Claire Martin, Emily Roberts, Ahn Wells and many more will be featuring their works at this exhibition supported by the Octapod.

Funds raised from the exhibition will go towards the completion of the new gallery space so come along for a few drinks and support this excellent new venture. For more details about the evening, check out the PODspace website.

Battle in The Woods

Renew Newcastle project The Woods is calling for artists willing to participate in an interesting new project. Battle in The Woods gives artists 60 minutes to create a piece of artwork using anything they desire.

Sound like your cup of tea? Well, if you’re up for the challenge you can visit their Facebook page for all the details.

High Tea at The Bird House

This is one for the diary! The Bird House is hosting their very first High Tea, welcoming five new artists to the coop. For just $25 you can indulge in wine, finger food and organic herbal tea. It all takes place on Saturday, 26 November between 12 noon-2pm. Cost is $25 and bookings are limited. If you’re interested, click here for more details.

Nick Turner is a born & bred Novocastrian. At 21 years of age, he is in the midst of a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Newcastle, majoring in film, media & cultural studies.
