Friday 6th September

Anberlin @ Newcastle Panthers

The boys from Anberlin are back! Returning to Australia this September, Anberlin will be bringing their fearless musical talent, a range of new, exciting anthems and a steller pair of international supports to to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

After having huge success in testing revolutionary live performance techniques on their last Australian tour such as including covers, audience requests, acoustic songs and live Q & A’s, Anberlin will be continuing to build on their relationships with loyal Aussie fans throughout their upcoming, high-energy tour.

On their eighth visit to Australia, Anberlin will be playing hits from their latest and sixth studio album Vital, released last October, as well as a selection of their classic hits. The boys will be supported by the incredibly talented William Beckett (The Academy Is) and The Maine on their upcoming tour.

Kingswood @ Bar On The Hill

The rise of four-piece, Melbourne-bred indie rock band Kingwood has been sharp and their popularity continues to  grow. After a hugely succesful 2012 with three singles released to critical acclaim, Kingswood won the coveted “Triple J Unearthed Splendour in the Grass” competition which saw them open the Byron Bay festival on the main Supertop stage. They went on to play over 100 shows across Australia and 5 exclusive, invitation only events in Afghanistan for the Australian Defence Force. The success kept coming as the band were nomiated for best new artist at the j awards and selected as one of triple j’s ‘Next Crop’ for 2013.

2013 has proved to be another massive year for the up and coming band, having released their 4th single “Ohio” along with their “Change of Heart” EP Deluxe, as well as tours with acclaimed national and international music legends such as Grinspoon, Aerosmith and Vance Powell (Jack White).

Kingswood will be performing live for their Novocastrian fans this Friday night at the University of Newcastle’s Bar On The Hill.

Dead Letter Circus @ The Cambridge Hotel

After the debut of their greatly anticipated second album in August, The Catalyst Fire, Dead Letter Circus are embarking on The Catalyst Fire Australian Tour for some highly charged live performances of their new material.

It’s been a massive three years for the 5-piece band from Brisbane whose hit debut album This Is The Warning, peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts and reached gold sales. International tours and nine months of writing and recording have all contributed to the creation of The Catalyst Fire and will influence Dead Letter Circus’ intense and high-energy Australian shows.

Northlane @ The Cambridge Hotel

After their album Singularity debuted at #3 on the ARIA charts in March, Northlane enjoyed international acclaim and a string of successful sold out dates around the Australia. The Sydney-based band have now announced The Springularity Tour which will see boys hitting the road and taking to stages across regional and greater metropolitan areas along Australia’s East Coast.

Northland will be joined by the the talented, hardcore act Saviour who recently performed at the East Coast Rampage alongsie Buried In Verona, House Vs Hurricane and I Killed the Prom Queen.

Alzheimer’s Australia Memory Walk & Jog: The Race Against Dementia Hunter @ Speers Point Park

After a fantastic debut year in 2012, the Alzheimer’s Australia Memory Walk & Jog is back on again! Join the fun at the Speers Point Park this Sunday. The beautiful lush surroundings and stunning lake is the perfect backdrop for raising vital funds and awareness to support the people living with dementia in our community. With more than 320,000 Australians living with dementia and 100,000 of those people in NSW, this fatal condition will almost certainly affect someone us or someone we love in this lifetime.

Enjoy live entertainment and beautiful scenery as you walk, jog or run up a storm this Sunday to raise much needed funds for The Hunter Dementia Memory Resource Centre through Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.

With your help, Alzheimer’s Australia NSW can use the funds raised to support local Hunter-based programs, enabling them to provide vital support services like counselling, support groups and education to help families and carers across the Hunter region. These services reduce feelings of isolation and empower people living with dementia and those caring for them.
