Newcastle Art Space

Newcastle is once again lucky to have Shelley Cornish presenting an exhibition of her recent works after recently completing 5 years of study in ‘Fine Arts’. When asked about her work Cornish recently said “… I am a people watcher. I look at posture, movement and fashion. I’m interested in the theatrical pageantry of life. How a moment can be interpreted by the viewer in many different ways. I love colour and strong characters that show relationships, intimacy, love, loss of love, sexuality and loneliness, human characteristic of all people”.

Jayney Carter explores the beauty of our landscape using the vibrancy of silk as a surface in an exhibition of Conceptual Australian Landscape paintings. From very early in her life, Jayney was a keen environmentalist with a deep respect for the natural world. The work in this exhibition captures scenes from throughout Australia. Jayney paints on silk to represent the fragility of our Australian landscape and soil.

Both of these exhibitions will be displayed at the Newcastle Art Space at 246 Parry Street, Hamilton East. For more information on these artists, see The Newcastle Art Space website or Shelley Cornish   Art.
