What’s On In Newcastle? The Darby Street Twilight Festival, Bodyjar & Loon Lake

This week is packed with exciting events! The Darby Street Festival is on again, Bodyjar returns with support from One Dollar Short, For Amusement Only and Irrelevant, and Rockwiz visits Newcastle. Absence, an exhibition of work by Braddon Snape and Joshua White opens this Friday and there’s a WordPress workshop on at Time & Place.
Friday 24th
Boy In A Box VS Kingswood @ The Northern Star Hotel
Tonedeaf presents the SPLIT ENDS 2012 Tour which will see Boy In A Box go up against Kingswood in a battle for ultimate supremacy!

Absence @ Forsight Gallery
Internationally recognised artists, Braddon Snape and Joshua White, have returned to their hometown of Newcastle presenting their latest exhibition, Absence.

Short Shorts: Newcastle’s Shortest Short Film Night
Presented by Time & Place, Short Shorts aims to provide local filmmakers and video-artists with a platform to showcase their work and to meet and discuss their ideas and passion for making films.
When: Pre-screening drinks from 6.30pm with the first short film shown at 7pm

Darby Street Festival
Newcastle NOW and the Darby Street Traders invite you, your family and friends to come and enjoy the community festivities and rich culture of Darby Street on the 11th August 2012.
The Darby Street Traders invite you to the Darby Street Twilight Festival taking place in Darby Street, Cooks Hill (Newcastle) on 11 August 2012 from 3.00 pm to 9.00pm
This year’s theme is “a Bohemian Celebration” of Artists, Writers, and Performers & Artisans”. At sunset the street will be awash with special fire and lighting features.
We welcome visitors to have their evening meal with our famous Darby Street Cafes whilst being entertained by intimate ‘Bohemian’ performers and ‘happenings’.
Activities planned for the Darby Street Twilight Festival will include street markets, artistic ‘installations’, wandering musicians and performers ,wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, a speaker’s corner , poetry & other readings, fashion ‘happenings’ and fun activities for young and old.
We look forward to seeing you, your family and friends at the Darby Street Twilight festival to celebrate this unique “Bohemian” experience.

Bodyjar @ Bar on the Hill

In celebration of the re-issue of Bodyjar’s landmark 1998 album No Touch Red, which has been re-issued on red vinyl! The night will see Bodyjar perform the entire album live and follow it up with a special ‘best of’ set.

WordPress Workshop @ Time & Place
With Tim Cox from Ethos Online
Learn the tricks to the world’s most used blogging and website development platform. This workshop provides the opportunity to create a WordPress and be ready to go live at the conclusion of the session.
