Where is your favourite place to get coffee in Newcastle?

Newcastle coffee

Some can’t function without one (or two) first thing in the morning, for others it’s an indulgence…

Here’s your next chance to contribute to the Reader’s (your!) Choice on Urban Insider - we want you to tell us (and the rest of Newcastle) about the best of the best! This time, we’re talking coffee and want to know where you love to get your caffeine fix & why! It could be about the best brew, coffee house atmosphere, barista, or tastiest morsel to accompany your coffee…

We’re coffee lovers too, so we’ll be putting our own 2 cents in and, along with your feedback, this will contribute to Urban Insider’s guide to Newcastle coffee.

Tell us in the comments below which places you love most!

Helen Henry grew up in Newcastle, and in 2010 graduated with a Bachelor of Communication from the local University. This was pleasing because it made her officially qualified to communicate about the things she likes most: music and the music industry, photography, digital, cute animals and her friends & family. Good Brother!

Kristin

I know this great little caf, but you’ve probably never heard of it.

Alex

Hi Alex, please let us know! That’s why we’re asking! 🙂

One Penny Black is definitely my favourite. I work in the Hunter Street Mall and it’s been the best thing to ever happen. The coffee is outstanding and the food is just as good.

In no particular order…
Suspension
Glee
Good Brother
3bean

3 Monkeys in Darby St has been my favourite for the last 10 years. It’s consistently excellent, with great staff and wonderful coffee.

Some of my other favourites are Silo, Estabar, One Penny Black and Talulah.

I am a Eurobar in Hamilton coffee drinker, I always get a good coffee there!

So many great places in Newcastle. But I’m going to opt for the boys at Coffee On Crown, 3a Crown Street.

They have wireless and can fix ya computer.

Good Brother on King & Bolton.

Amazing coffee — so creamy and smooth — the perfect latte every time. Beans roasted to perfection and the staff are more than friendly despite getting crazy busy most mornings.

Also love the chilled out decor — a little oasis in the heart of the CBD.

Luke

Goldbergs on Darby Street or Hippo at Warners Bay. Both make beautiful coffees… Yum!

The Shed at Islington is great. Lovely coffee, atmosphere and owners. Its new so check it out!

Amanda

Coffee on Crown.

Delicious coffee, lovely snacks and free wi-fi. Can’t beat it.

I have a couple of favourites and each one lends itself to my particular mood of the day. However if i had to choose one then it would be 3 Bean, the coffee is ALWAYS great, it’s fast, I love reading their menu stories, and everyone who works there is friendly … I walk out of there most mornings with not only a fabulous cafe au lait but also with a smile on my face.

Megan

Coffee on Crown for sure

Steph

I love Glee on Darby Street for their enthusiasm, turntable and love of coffee. One Penny Black is just a glorious spot to while away time. Coffee On Crown for their wi-fi and great coffee! Essential Ingredient for a treat with coffee - and my deepest love belongs to III Bean. {most of my faves also have one thing in common: Baked Uprising sweet treats!}

One Penny Black! The single origin java is the best.

In order of best coffee experience:

I love Estabar and their gelato selection adds some nice options.

Barista Fix in at the store Newcastle. It’s only open weekends but wow. Well worth the wait. Great artist when it comes to the latte art side of things too. Horses, dragons. Unreal. Must try
