Calling Hunter Wine Enthusiasts & Industry: #Chardonnay Day Coming Soon!

Hunter Wines - Chardonnary Day

Hunter wine enthusiasts, you did read correctly! There’s a whole day dedicated to the white wine that has shed its critics to become Australia’s finest varietal! Get amongst it on Chardonnay Day, 26 May.

First I’ll answer the question I know you all must be thinking - what is Chardonnay Day, apart from an excuse to crack a bottle of the good stuff? Well, it comes following the global success of international tastings like #Cabernet Day, #yarrawine, #barossawine & our own #hunterwine, and is a global day to talk about Chardonnay via social media platforms. It gives businesses in the industry the chance to share their brand and connect with consumers and experts around the world.

As far as how it works, anyone can get involved! Events like this one have been described as being like sitting down and having conversation at a table of like-minded wine lovers who happen to connect via social media channels. There are dinners & tastings scheduled around Australia’s captial cities (Sydney details here) but you can just as easily take part virtually - all you need is a few friends, your favourite chardonnay and internet access! To participate, post up comments on twitter, facebook, youtube, foursquare & the like using the hashtag #chardonnay in your posts/ tweets, and follow the conversations taking place on the day. Australian producers, wine media, retailers and wine lovers are invited to get online at any time throughout the day to participate, but particularly between 7:30 - 9pm AEST.

If you’re in the industry and would like to have your wine tasted at an event, you can send it along to one of the venues and it will be sampled alongside a diverse array of wines. They’re keen to see regional examples so grab a Chardonnary Day Address Label and send them through to arrive by Wednesday, 25 May. Make sure you include a sticker on the bottle with the RRP and your Twitter handle - that way the world can see when people are drinking your wine on the day!

Other ways for businesses to get involved include to sell trial packs of your chardonnay or feature #Chardonnay Day in your newsletters, provide tasting notes for customers, create videos and blog posts to put up on the day, put on a meetup at your business or collaborate with others in the region to organise something bigger.
