Photographing Adamstown Train Station

Photographing Adamstown Train Station

This week, I have been waiting and waiting for the rain to subside - so naturally, as soon as it did, I waited for the sunshine to subside and went for a shoot at night! As a limitless number of Novocastrians (myself included) can tell you, the Adamstown Train Gates are not the most efficient on the line. Gates are lowered several minutes prior to a train passing through, and pass through they do very often. Although, the one time that I setup actually wanting a train to come, it seemed to take forever! It took 22 minutes of lying (well, standing) in wait before I got my wish. I have no doubt that those who drove past me thought it quite odd that I was out and about at 11PM, but hey - whatever it takes to get the shot.

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Ben is a 21 year old photographer who loves capturing the emotion of a moment. He focuses on wedding & portrait photography, but doesn't mind trying his hand at other genres from time to time either. Ben spends most of his spare time reading about photography, practicing new photography techniques and spending all his money on new photography toys. Growing up in Gloucester & moving after completing school, he is now studying a Bachelor of Business at the University of Newcastle. A self-confessed geek, you can follow his stream of consciousness on Twitter or see the latest work on his blog.
