Photographing Australia Day in Newcastle

Australia Day 2012 in Newcastle

Despite the dire weather predictions leading up to it, the skies were clear enough for a sizeable chunk of Newcastle to get out and enjoy Australia Day. I walked all along the foreshore taking in the patriotism and weaving between the sea of flags. There was plenty going on and some still managed to get themselves into the sea for a dip - it was a bit too cool for me however. It was great to see the beautiful waterfront we have being used to its full potential.

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
