Photographing Newcastle Baths

Photographing Newcastle Baths

As many of you may already be aware, there has been quite a swell hitting our beaches this week. I finally got a chance to get down to the Newcastle Baths to capture some of the action. Vying for a spot among the leagues of other photographers, the view was simply breathtaking. I had visited and shot at the baths many times before, but had never seen them quite like this. Waves soared higher than the horizon, even managing to catch me out a few times and leave me with wet shoes. Just when I thought I had found a safe spot, the water would come rushing in even further. There was a shared feeling of awe around the spectators as we gathered together to appreciate the incredible view before us.

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Ben is a 21 year old photographer who loves capturing the emotion of a moment. He focuses on wedding & portrait photography, but doesn't mind trying his hand at other genres from time to time either. I feel damp just looking at these pix - you really grab the moment and translate it to the frame perfectly. #5 is my favorite, though - and so the day begins… moody and broody and alone.
