Throughout September at The Lock-Up

6th - 30th September: Artist In Residence - Bella Ann Townes

The Lock-Up welcomes Bella Ann Townes as our current Artist in Resident. Townes is a Sydney based photomedia artist with a BFA (honours) from the University of Newcastle, Australia.

By integrating film, digital photography and sculpture, Bella Ann pushes, plays and experiments with the parameters of the photographic medium. The result offers an intimate glimpse at her sense of personal identity, transformation and environment.

13th - 29th September: Exhibition - Eternal Realities

Bella Ann Townes, The Lock-Up’s current Artist in Resident, creates multichannel video and performance based artworks that question the definition and understanding of reality. These video installations play on perceptions of what is real and what is fantasy in order to unfold the depths of the human condition.

20th September - 6th October: Exhibition - Desiring Machines

Curated by Critical Animals as part of  This Is Not Art Festival. The artists in this exhibition meditate on the traces of human experience in data, make human interventions into the realm of the machine and find ways in which technology aids social exchange. In doing so they convert the visual and technological effluvium that occupies our lives into material that encourages empathy and connection.
