Photographing Civic Park

The Grid Civic Park Newcastle Photos

Right in the middle of the Newcastle CBD, Civic Park is not exactly hidden away. It is somewhere that every Novocastrian has probably visited at least once, which has added to the uproar and debate around the proposed felling of the figs along its top side on Laman St. Personally I would love for the trees to stay, although I really just wish for a decision to be made one way or the other. The current fencing is an eyesore on the otherwise beautiful surrounds, and even as I was shooting, security patrolled the perimeter - to protect from what I’m not sure. The dreary weather didn’t provide much exciting light to work with, but there are still a few interesting spots to look into

Each week “The Grid” features photos of a selected area of the Newcastle & Hunter region, capturing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
