Friday, 19 August

Mat McHugh from the Beautiful Girls will be performing his solo and acoustic show tonight at Lizottes. After returning from an international tour with The Beautiful Girls to promote their fourth album Spooks. Mat has come back to his home land to give an intimate performance of songs from the past 8 years to happy fans. We caught up with Mat McHugh for an interview recently. Check it out here.

Saturday, 20 August

If having a crafternoon is your favourite past time then make sure you get too the Newcastle Craft Expo. Whether you love knitting, crochet or scrapbooking the craft expo has it all on offer. There are also ‘make & take’ classes and free seminars. It started on the 18th of August and runs til the 21st at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. More info here.

Sunday, 21 August

Tonight at Lizottes, Wendy Matthews performs. “Wendy Matthews has a reputation as an artist par excellence with a sublime, expressive voice that never fails to move those who hear it”. With this rep, she has to be good! Check her out, for more details visit the Lizotte’s website.

Monday, 22 August

We’ve been waiting for so long and finally it has arrived! Newcastle Fashion Week begins today with their Official Launch taking place tonight! Wednesday, 24 August

Grease The Musical is at the Civic Theatre! This classic story and those classic rock and roll songs are retold in a theatrical performance which will appeal to all ages. Performances will be held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, from 24th August till 3rd September. For more information visit Ticketek.

If you follow the  vampire craze and love True Blood then you may be excited to know that Jace Everett, the musician who created the song ‘Bad Things’ for the opening montage is coming to Newcastle on his Bad Things, Good Times Tour. He will be playing at Lizottes tonight with Kirsty Akers. Everett’s music is described as a ‘roots music fusion’ sourcing inspiration from Roy Orbison, Kim Morrison and Ray Charles. Thursday, 25 August

Musica Viva presents Goldner String Quartet and Ian Munro at The Newcastle Conservatorium of Music. For something different, why not go see this “exciting piano quintet combination”? For more information and to buy tickets go to Ticketek.

Friday, 26 August

The Newcastle and Hunter Jazz Club aims to foster live Jazz music in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley area. The Newcastle Jazz Festival is an event which works to further this cause! Held at Newcastle City Hall, this annual festival (in its 24th year) will showcase many bands, musicians and orchestras for your listening pleasure! There will also be free parking all day and cafes, restaurants and bars open all day and night! For more information visit Ticketek.

Saturday, 27 August
