Newcastle’s Fashion Stars Showcased their Designs at Australian Fashion Week

On 3 May one of Newcastle’s favourite local designers, Linda Bergskas, of Guanabana, showed her most recent collection, Casablanca, to Sydney fashionistas at Circular Quay.

Hot on her toes was Emma Mulholland, one of four TAFE NSW Fashion Design Institute graduates chosen to display a collection on 5 May at Circular Quay. Fashion extraordinaires such as Alex Perry, Lisa Ho and Nicky Zimmerman are also graduates of the college. Mulholland’s 15 look collection was called Queen Aurelia.

Corrin Dedman from Merewether is another Novocastrian who made waves at Fashion Week. She was one of 14 hair dressers who styled the hair of models for the Alex Perry show. She has previously won the award for hairdressing apprentice of the year and is the owner of KOKO Hair - a salon located in Kotara South.

Face of Frock On Winner Announced

On 15 May, Newcastle beauties battled it out on the catwalk at Westfield Kotara to be the Face of Frock On 2011. Kirsten O’Connell was the winner of the competition and will be the face of Frock On 2011. Frock On will take place on Saturday 3rd September 2011 at Newcastle City Hall.

Don’t Forget to Raid My Wardrobe This Weekend

The next installment of Raid My Wardrobe is on this Sunday, 22 May at Newcastle Basketball Stadium. Here’s a chance to reinvent your look with some great pre-loved finds - direct from the owners! The event promises more than 40 stalls (or wardrobes) which encompass a variety of looks; chain-store chic, sleek high-end designs and quirky vintage fashions. It’s a neat way to promote sustainable living & a full wallet. Keep in mind that Raid My Wardrobe is a girls only affair; there’s no men’s or children’s clothing on offer, so it’s a great chance to get your girlfriends together for a fabulous day of guilt-free shopping.
